Intermarine is an Italian shipyard, headed by the IMMSI Group (the same holding that controls Piaggio motor vehicles), specialized in development, design and construction of Naval Units in composite materials and aluminum, both for military / paramilitary applications and for the civil market.

In relation to the specific defense sector, Intermarine, initially specialized in the sector of ships for Mine Countermeasures (in which it still holds an undisputed world leadership), today produces different types of boats for both military and para-military uses:

• Mine Countermeasure Vessels, in composite material;
• Fast patrol boats, in composite and aluminum.

The company is qualified and operates in accordance with the most restrictive military and civilian quality standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and AQAP 2110).

Intermarine has three sites:

• the management, the technical and commercial offices and the main production site are based in Sarzana (on an area of 76.000 square meters, of which 16.000 are covered);
• in La Spezia there is an area dedicated to the outfittings, the final acceptance tests and the delivery of units to customers;
• in Messina (on an area of 30,000 square meters, of which 15,000 are covered) where aluminum ships up to 65-70 m in length can be built.

Intermarine is well known worldwide especially for its production of Ships for Mine Countermeasures, i.e. those ships specialized in the search and neutralization of naval mines. To date, Intermarine has in fact produced, directly or under license granted to foreign partners, this type of naval unit to 8 Marines (Italy, Malaysia, Nigeria, Australia, USA, Thailand, Finland and Algeria) in 9 variants, for a total of 44 Unit: this fact testifies not only to the goodness and quality of the Company’s design and production choices, but also to Intermarine’s ability to satisfy the most diverse operational, logistical, technical or industrial requirements of its various Customers. Intermarine, in the field of mine countermeasures vessels, is also investing in Research and Development, in order to exploit all the potential of a “traditional” minesweeper and improve its operational capabilities by taking advantage of technology and the progress of “autonomous” systems, seeking also to meet current market trends.

Intermarine is also well known for its wide range of products in the fast patrol boats sector (Fast Patrol Boat – FPB and Offshore Patrol Vessel – OPV), built in the range from 13 to 55 meters, in composite material or aluminum. The Intermarine patrol vessels, characterized by high speed, autonomy and seaworthiness, are ideal for “Search and Rescue” (SAR) operations and for the contrast and repression of illegal trafficking at sea (law enforcement duties).

In particular, the Intermarine patrol vessels have been produced in large quantities for the Italian Guardia di Finanza and the Italian Coast Guard. Two new units have recently been delivered to the Italian Navy and two new units are in production for the Italian Coast Guard. The designs of these boats are also characterized by high flexibility, which allows their configurations to be modified to suit the specific needs of each customer.
