Il Com. Renato Mantovani, terminata l’esperienza di ufficiale del ruolo naviganti dell’Aeronautica Militare durante il periodo bellico, fonda la Società di Servizi IFI.
La IFI entra nel settore dei prodotti chimici stringendo accordi industriali con i maggiori produttori del settore per la distribuzione in Italia.
A seguito della joint-venture stipulata con la NYCO S.A. (azienda francese leader ed unica in Europa in possesso del know-how per la produzione di lubrificanti speciali a specifica militare), la IFI realizza nel 1982 uno stabilimento a Cagliari e successivamente, nel 1996, al fine di far fronte alle esigenze di carattere commerciale e logistico, uno stabilimento a Carsoli (L’Aquila) con una superficie complessiva di 20.000 mq ed impianti di produzione tecnologicamente avanzati.
La IFI, a seguito della realizzazione di numerosi accordi commerciali, diviene leader nella commercializzazione di prodotti chimici a specifica militare.

After having completed his service as an officer on the Air Force Navigators List during the war, Commander Renato Mantovani founded the Services Company IFI.
IFI soon began operating in the chemical products sector, establishing domestic distribution agreements with some of the industry’s leading manufacturers.
Following a joint venture entered into with the NYCO S.A. (a leading French company and the only European manufacturer capable of producing special military grade lubricants), IFI established a production facility in Cagliari in 1982. Subsequently, in order to meet its rapidly increasing sales and logistics requirements, the company went on to establish another production facility in Carsoli (L’Aquila) in 1996, which boasted technologically advanced production equipment and a total surface area of 20,000 square metres.
After having established numerous trade agreements, IFI became the national leader in the sales of military grade chemical products.
Since 2014, under license from AkzoNobel, the first Italian production site for military specification MIL-PRF-85285 paints has opened, capable of quickly supplying any color requested by the customer even in minimum quantities. Subsequently, IFI specializes and focuses its investments on the production of livery paints, thus becoming a center of excellence for the supply of livery paints in the general aviation, VIP and military transport sectors. Its advanced colorimetry center is thus inaugurated for the creation of any desired color. The products currently produced in our plant are:

With more than 60 years of experience in the field of military grade chemicals, IFI has developed an integrated logistics service for the management of consumables that’s based on:
- Production in Italy of aeronautical paints with military and civil specifications.Keeping up to date with the aviation legislation in force
- Keeping up to date with the OEM manuals.
- Evaluating the consumables’ impact upon safety and hygiene
- Verifying and updating the material safety data sheets
- Preparing the material safety data sheets for extra-European consumable products with the help of an updated database
- Verifying compliance and adapting the relative labelling
- Performing predictive assessments on the developments of REACH
- Support and drafting of EXEMPTION requests for restricted products and substances
- Mapping the chemical risks
- Development of Quality Control system and achievement of UNI EN 9120:2010 (EN 9120:2010) certifacate, ISO 9001 and UNI 9100.
LICHEMS’ goal is to assure the end user consumables that have been fully screened at their origins, thus leaving them with the sole task of using the materials themselves.
