Collins Aerospace’s Microtecnica s.r.l., an RTX business, has been established in Italy for almost a century, providing  actuation systems solutions and services for aerospace and defense customers.

Born in Turin in 1929, Microtecnica Srl has a long history as market leader of cutting-edge technologies for the Aerospace and Defence industry in Italy’s Piedmont region, with facilities in Turin, Luserna San Giovanni and Brugherio, and around 700 employees.

It is leading provider of flight control actuation systems, engine control systems and valves for fixed wing and rotorcraft platforms – both commercial and military – serving OEM customers in Italy, Europe and around the world. Today’s company production is articulated into the following:

  • Primary actuation for rotorcrafts, from mechanical systems with simple hydraulic boost to Fly-by-Wire controlled via Servo-Valves
  • Secondary actuation for Fixed Wing (High efficiency, integrated no-back function, integrated torque limiter function, visual indication for torque limiter)
  • Engine valves, with different functional architectures (butterfly valves, in-line poppet valves, hydraulically controlled valves and check valves), and different functions (shut-off, pressure regulation, anti-ice, engine start bleed)
  • Design and production of rigs

R&D projects:

  • Electro Mechanical Actuator: a low power and light weight modular rotary designed for high volumes production targeting flight controls actuators and new future platforms dedicated to Urban Air Mobility.
  • High temperature Butterfly Valve designed to improve pressure regulation performance. It can be used either in engine anti-ice application or in environmental control system applications.
