NeMeA Sistemi is an Italian innovative SME operating in the field of Territorial and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The company delivers highly specialized solutions for data and system integration, with a particular focus on Space-based Earth Observation and on transforming raw satellite data into actionable information, supported by a dedicated robotics and IoT ecosystem for environmental monitoring.

Core focus areas include:

  • Provision of geospatial information (from satellites, drones, GNSS, and IoT sources) and GIS platforms (Geographic Information Systems);
  • Development and engineering of vertical, domain-specific geospatial applications;
  • Engineering and production of robotic ecosystems, including autonomous surface water drones and multiparameter data buoy systems.

The Company’s main focus is to promote knowledge of the local area and the marine environment and their characteristics, in order to increase awareness of issues such as environmental impact and how this can, in turn, affect socio-economic conditions—improving, mitigating, or completely eliminating certain impacts that are not always understood or properly assessed. We provide high-quality data to enable sound decision-making.

Our primary goal is to strengthen our position as a reference provider for our Public Administration (PA) customers, supplying CLOUD-based GIS applications and enhancing our ecosystem of Plug-ins and SaaS (vertical GIS and WebGIS micro-applications dedicated to managing specific geographic aspects of institutional responsibilities, such as the Urban Planning Destination Certificate, address numbering and road network management compliant with ISTAT standards, management of Municipal Real Estate Assets as required by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), cemetery management, etc.).

In the Utilities sector, our objective is to channel emerging needs (predictive maintenance, risk reduction on assets, increased operational safety, etc.) into actionable opportunities, including through joint participation in national and international calls for tenders.

DATA INTERPRETATION FOR EARTH OBSERVATION, RADAR/SAR AND OPTICAL

Interpretation and classification of information from RADAR/SAR satellites using interferometry methods and image comparison techniques, Change Detection & Classification.

Civil applications: environmental monitoring on land and at sea, shoreline extraction, assessment of riverbed sediments, and built-up area mapping.

DATABASE POPULATION

Cartography acquisition and GIS standardization: acquisition of territorial base datasets and vector and paper thematic maps.
Ground surveys: carried out using mobile GIS.
Bathymetric surveys and shoreline monitoring (sea and lakes): shoreline acquisition, bathymetry mapping performed using HYDRA®, monitoring and surveys of marine environments using autonomous surface aquatic drones (USVs).

Related services: acquisition of cartography and cadastral data, master plans (PRG), street directories, public green areas, address numbering, constraints and fire-affected areas.

Mapping of technological networks compliant with SINFI: (water networks, sewer systems, Medium and Low Voltage electricity networks, Public Lighting) using acquisition methodologies based on historical records and paper maps/documentation; GIS setup; system use; data dissemination and publication on Intranet/Internet and mobile devices; reporting to SINFI as per Ministerial Decree D.M. 11/05/2016 of the Ministry of Economic Development.

DELIVERY OF TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED AND INNOVATIVE SERVICES

Services that extend the capabilities of a Geographic Information System in terms of use, management, and access:

Geoportals for publishing territorial information and technological networks: solutions for publishing GIS data and updating them via the web. Web page development and publication services (HTML, ASP) dedicated to specific uses (Public Lighting, Urban Planning Destination Certificates) or customized to the customer.

Mobile GIS & Apps: development of services/applications to implement GIS solutions for mobile devices and next-generation smartphones, enabling any user—wherever they are—to receive, query, and create geographic information.

NeMeA Sistemi’s “Geo-Information” service is not limited to administrative land management; it extends to an integrated Space–Land–Sea vision aimed at proactive protection of risk-prone areas. NeMeA analyzes Earth Observation data from space through RADAR/SAR imagery and sensors, Deep Learning algorithms, and convolutional neural networks in the CLOUD. These systems operate in an unsupervised mode thanks to Artificial Intelligence, learning autonomously from raw data to extract crucial information on natural and human-driven changes. These outputs are essential both for territorial coordination and for coordinating the robotic ecosystem (such as USV aquatic drones). The latter carries out bottom-up monitoring, acting as a receptive bridge between the Space and Sea domains, and culminates in the design phase that makes this information usable for concrete action.

This synergy enables numerous projects for monitoring, prevention, and protection of the marine ecosystem: technologically advanced and economically sustainable initiatives that operate on multiple fronts while remaining connected within a single mission focused on environmental protection.

SYSTEM INTEGRATION AND VERTICAL GIS APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT FOR UTILITIES

(System continuity surveys and reporting to AEEG, the energy authority). In the electricity and water utility sectors, our company has developed vertical applications for network management compliant with the SINFI data model: AquA (water supply and sewer systems), IP (Public Lighting), BT.NET Suite dedicated to advanced management of network assets, providing practical applications designed to handle highly complex tasks such as budgeting for network changes, managing approval workflows, reporting to AEEG on downstream customers, as well as reporting to SINFI.

SYSTEM INTEGRATION FOR PUBLIC ADMINISTRATIONS

Creation of direct or cross-application integration processes between Tax and Population Registry systems and the GIS; implementation of systems for identifying “criticalities” and database misalignments through connectors to/from third-party applications.

TRADEMARKS AND PATENTS

3xA®: Artificial Intelligence algorithms (Machine & Deep Learning) for generating territorial change maps (Change Detection) from raw RADAR/SAR satellite data. Italian Society of Authors and Publishers (SIAE) – Special Public Register for Computer Programs, Registration No. D000022732.

HYDRA®: A vessel dedicated to geo-bathymetric surveying of seabeds, lakes, and dams, fully remotely operable.

COSMIC®: (through participation in the Sardinia Aerospace District) a family of patents called COSMIC 1 and COSMIC 2.
COSMIC 1®: technology for producing structural elements on the Moon and Mars using locally available resources. It refers to new technologies enabling astronaut life on Mars and the Moon by leveraging in-situ resources. Specifically, for the Moon, the patent uses a mineral present in lunar soil—ilmenite, an iron and titanium mineral (FeTiO3)—to produce “bricks” for building structures for civil or industrial use, fundamentally serving protective purposes and shielding against agents such as meteorites. For Mars, it leverages the significant presence of iron oxides with the same objective.
COSMIC 2: refers to new technologies to enable astronaut life on Mars and aims to sustain astronauts on Mars by leveraging the planet’s atmosphere, composed of 95% carbon dioxide and other gases such as nitrogen (2%) and argon. The patent предусматривает using these substances to produce what is necessary to sustain life: water, oxygen, and food.

R&D IN ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING

NeMeA operates in the field of eco-robotics through a modular Environmental Monitoring Ecosystem that uses autonomous drones for data collection and AI-based interpretation systems. By combining field-collected data with satellite data in a deep data lake, the critical mass required is obtained, enabling AI systems to distill information that is immediately actionable.
