Centro Sviluppo Materiali (CSM), costituito nel 1963 e diventato nel tempo un player chiave nella ricerca e sviluppo sui materiali, è completamente integrato in RINA dal 2013.

RINA fornisce un’ampia gamma di servizi nei settori Energia, Marine, Certificazione, Infrastrutture e Trasporti e Industry. Con un fatturato nel 2017 di 437 milioni di euro, oltre 3.700 risorse e 170 uffici in 65 paesi nel mondo, RINA partecipa alle principali organizzazioni internazionali, contribuendo da sempre allo sviluppo di nuovi standard normativi.

Our people come from diverse cultures, countries and backgrounds: in particular, our Materials, Technology & Innovation (MTI) team is now made up of over 500 consultants and engineers and around 30 full-scale laboratories, pilot lines and test facilities and supports companies that want to develop new materials and processes and apply innovative production techniques.

The experience, which we have brought in very demanding sectors such as Space and Defense, has allowed us to acquire the unique ability to be an important partner in strategic development programs also for Institutions and Public Bodies, as well as supporting industrial operators in their project of development.

We are engaged in the field of innovation mainly with regard to the modeling and design of materials and products, the optimization and development of processes, the metallurgical design of special steels and alloys, the development of innovative pilot plants, special equipment for tests in full scale and in reducing the environmental impact.

We are able to reproduce complete industrial cycles and our experts can implement innovation projects and Smart Manufacturing initiatives directly in customers’ plants, through a worldwide recognized know-how and our expertise in the production, application and use of advanced materials and innovative technologies.

Our engineering services cover the entire project life cycle, in compliance with engineering and military standards. As an independent organization, we provide verification and validation as well as product / software assurance and reliability services.
