  • Satellite Communications,
  • Geo Information
  • Satellite Systems and Operations.

Telespazio works to bring space closer to Earth for the benefit of citizens, institutions, and businesses across a wide range of sectors. These include the design and development of space systems, the management of launch services and in-orbit satellite control, Earth observation services, integrated communications, satellite navigation and positioning, as well as scientific programs.

Through an open innovation approach, cross-domain expertise, and a strong, ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, Telespazio is already operating in fields that will become increasingly critical in the coming years. These include communication and positioning services for the Moon, the monitoring and management of satellites and other orbiting objects in the context of Space Domain Awareness, the development of advanced in-orbit services, and satellite-based management of drones and unmanned vehicles.

By leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning for the processing of satellite big data, Telespazio is at the forefront of developing space applications that enhance life on our planet and help tackle major global challenges, such as combating the effects of climate change.

Since 2021, Telespazio has also been a drone operator and is rapidly expanding its capabilities in this sector through the deployment of T-DROMES, an advanced platform designed for the management of fleets and missions of remotely piloted aircraft.

Telespazio is a joint venture between Leonardo, which holds 67% of the company, and Thales, which holds 33%, and is one of the world’s leading players in satellite solutions and services. Together with Thales Alenia Space, it forms the Space Alliance, the strategic partnership between Leonardo and Thales that provides a comprehensive range of space services.

Founded in Italy in 1961, Telespazio is headquartered in Rome and employs over 3,000 people across 15 countries through its subsidiaries and joint ventures. It operates in France and French Guiana through Telespazio France, in Belgium and the Netherlands through Telespazio Belgium, in Germany through Telespazio Germany, GAF, and Spaceopal, a joint venture with the German Aerospace Center DLR, in the United Kingdom through Telespazio UK, in Spain through Telespazio Ibérica, and in Romania through Rartel. Its presence in Latin America is consolidated through Telespazio Brasil and Telespazio Argentina, as well as commercial offices in Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Peru. In Italy, it operates e-GEOS, a company in which the Italian Space Agency holds a 20% stake and which is a leader in geoinformation services.

With expertise built over more than 60 years, an international network of space centers and teleports, including the Fucino Space Center, one of the world’s most important civil teleport facilities, and participation in major space programs such as Galileo, EGNOS, Copernicus, COSMO-SkyMed, and Moonlight, Telespazio plays a key role in the space sector as both a service provider and a large mission integrator. By delivering solutions across the upstream, midstream, and downstream segments, Telespazio ensures the success of space missions and advances the frontiers of innovation in the industry.
